WHAT IS THE PPC?
The Patriot Party of Canada (PPC) is a new federal political party that stands to give Canadians a bright future with new ideas and solid leadership. Science and technology are too often ignored by the money-focused politicians of today; it is time for a government that uses innovation to plan for the future. Youth of today can truly hope to become leaders of tomorrow, giving all Canadians better representation, better democracy and, ultimately, better lives. The key to returning Canada to a middle-power status (or greater) lies in new opportunities, such as the information economy.
Politics ARE Boring! Why Should I Care?
Does anything have to be boring? Getting involved with politics can be seen from an entirely different perspective: Your friends get together once or twice a week and brainstorm new ideas for the PPC. The fruits of these ideas can be almost anything, from community services to concerts. (Canadian bands and/or battle of the bands) Nobody has ever said that fundraising and contributions need to be boring. New friends and new ideas will make it all worthwhile.
The PPC Youth Wing it is itself led by youths, so if something isn’t interesting, then any member can make it interesting. Everybody wants to have a say in the way things are operated; now you have a say. Any District Club is only limited by the ideas of its members.
Does anybody really want to work at a fast food restaurant when they begin their journey into the workforce? The volunteer work that comes with being a PPC member can give experience for all sorts of jobs, from office to recreational organization to anything that needs public relations work; this means that the experience will count towards a job! The jobs that are earned with PPC experience will also be much more interesting and better-paid.
With all of these benefits for any youth who joins the PPC, perhaps the question should not be why you would join, but instead, why wouldn’t you?
YOU CAN HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN
The PPC would never be a success without the support of its members. Only one night per week, and one half-day per month of service from each member will give Canada a better hope for the future. All of the ideas, policies and actions that will keep the PPC up to date with the feelings and desires of all Canadians depends upon your support and ideas.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH CANADA?
Where are our governments taking us with no plan for the future? Are we naive to hope that when we are as old as the politicians that Canada might be something more than it is today? Little gets accomplished as it stands; fighting happens between all spectrums: English and French, various provinces, natives and the rest of the population, and more. What's worse is that any resolution does not last, and problems often reappear within a few years. Our taxes go up, and oddly enough, so does our debt. The only noticable drop is in the quality of the services we receive. It is frightening that our politicians, who seem much more interested in staying in office rather than representing the people, are ignoring ideas that could vastly improve our quality of life.
What should we expect? The Liberal government, for all of its social contributions, has no idea what to do with this country. The Progressive Conservatives (PC) promote the rich, leaving the poor and middle classes with little service and support. The NDP can't balance their ideals with a legitimate budget. The Alliance cuts government services without any thought as to erecting replacements. Could any of them fix many of these problems and lead us into a bright future? It certainly seems not. Most of these parties are the same ones who supported the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) which has let the United States crush industrial jobs, and hurt the average hardworking Canadian.
Remember stories of the 1950's? We were actually a middle-power country with a voice on the world stage. We are no longer thanks to those in the government who turn a blind eye to the future, missing opportunities that our engineers and scientists present. With leaders who see future potential with technology and science, we could ensure that Canada does not miss those opportunities that are still left! Wouldn't it be nice to remain in Canada to succeed?
OUR GREATEST OPPORTUNITY
Despite all of our cuts, we still have some world-class potential. With more available space than we could ever currently use, and with a communications sector that competes with major players worldwide, it is time to take advantage of new ideas that could contribute greatly to Canada.
Home workplace is not a brand new idea; for years people have worked from home, using computer, phones, and even just a pen and paper in order to make a living. It is interesting that not only has no attempt has ever been made to make it widespread here in Canada, but it is still not a massive movement anywhere in the world. Were the government to work with the private sector, the communications equipment could be created and made at a reasonable cost for any Canadian. This would mean that virtually every Canadian could have a job, working at home some or all of the time. this would not only benefit the economy, but also allow citizens to live wherever they want in the country without sacrificing their jobs. Moving out of the cities would better populate the country, and that in turn would help the environment through less concentrated pollution and energy.
The community created through just this idea could bring more money and security into the hands of all Canadians. Unemployment would drop, as anyone with any skills could make some money. What's more, the jobs would become more interesting.
GOVERNMENT FOR THE FUTURE, NOT THE PAST
The PPC believes that services could better be provided to the Canadian population below the provincial level in the form of Zone governments. These zones would be comprised of combined counties of like cultures, so that a majority of one of the four founding groups (English, French, Native or visible Ethnic) would warrant services that could be provided in the according language. As a result, they would provide many federal, provincial and municipal services in one of the official languages, and one language aimed at the founding group. Culture and language would become even less of a problem, such that the provincial laws currently causing issues would be unnecessary. Two-thirds of the provincial powers, including health, education and social service delivery, would be redistributed to the zone level of government in order to provide these better services. Education standards would be federalized for a nation-wide solid diploma. This would also allow natives to have a brand new form of control over their reservations, transforming them into Zones of equal value, directed at providing for the natives in such a way that the Department of Indian Affairs etc would no longer be required.
THE PATRIOT PARTY OF CANADA
The PPC, born from a love of this country, exists to ensure a future for Canada through long term planning and the promotion of vibrant new ideas. The PPC would:
- Work with the private sector to would spurn the new economy with home workplace.
middlemen needed)
- Support the small business sector.
- Encourage home based agriculture for better international independence.
- Protect the cultures and rights of all Canadians (not just the most vocal)
- Appoint ministers with experience in the subject to which they are appointed.
- Eliminate the GST over a period of time.
- Replace the Income Tax with the simpler and more efficient Personal Asset Tax (PAT)
- Restore the Defence, including the armed forces, navy and air force.
- Promote better financial aid than the welfare system.
- Inspire community service for improving the lives of all Canadians.
A LONG-TERM EFFORT
There have been other efforts to make these kinds of policies happen, but parties such as the National Party of Canada and organizations such as the Council of Canadians fell to infighting and lost their sense of direction. Their failures do give a positive light for the PPC however, as a history of mistakes shows how we can improve.
It is important to realize that change, especially in Canada, is slow; it will take time to win over the hearts and minds of Canadians. Trust is earned through kept promises and strong morals. Though an overnight victory is unlikely, persistance will make it a solid, long term win that has a chance of truly giving back to the people.
No matter how many ideas other parties may steal, they will still be a far cry from the party Canadians need – a party that is finally emerging, as the Patriot Party of Canada. Patience, persistence, and fun along the way can and will pay off.
Members of the PPC sign a Code of Ethics and contribute at least the above mentioned time per week. Elected PPC candidates will have the benefit of a supplemented income, meaning PPC fundraising will pay the difference between a minister’s salary and that salary previously earned in the private sector. Unlike the MP pay hike, this actually does attract better people to politics. (without flaunting to the Canadian people) Finally, these same candidates will release a public report concerning promises made, and fulfilled, during the prior election.
Contribute to meetings, fundraising, writing, organization, public speaking, community service and/or much more. Whether you actually hold the meetings or drive people to them, all that matters is giving to an idea that Canada can be better.
